409 Squadron Beaufighter

This 409 Squadron RCAF Beaufighter was finished to represent one flown my a good friend, Bill Marr, who at 83 years young is still flying.  I added a resin cockpit and a few of my spares decals.  It is the best fitting kit that I have ever had the privilege to build.

The finish is my usual Polly Scale.  The cowling fronts are exhaust collector rings, which when heated turn a burnt copper colour.  This was achieved with first painting with Humbrol Copper then a thin coat of Model Master Burnt Metal which was polished until very little of it remained.

Flight Lieutenant Bill Marr at age 83 and still flying!
